Sam Clifton

I chose Apprenticeship training so that I could get paid for learning and get the experience in working; seeing what it would be like in the real world.

I heard about the opportunity through Youth Connexions where I was directed by the college I was at and a family friend. I sent my CV with name and details about me on it, had a phone call with the Head of Department, and then went for an interview with the company.

Positives: I enjoy that it’s free, I get paid, and that I’m still learning key skills what I will use throughout the rest of my life. I would definitely recommend this to another person to my age.

Negatives: There really isn’t anything bad about this; you have just got to be ready to change from a boy to a man, or a girl to a woman.

My key advice: Don’t worry about going to an interview, just be confident and be yourself. Try and make yourself stand out more than any of the other candidates.
