YouthPoint Summer Music Project a hit with young people!

22 August 2017

Young people from across Watford and Three Rivers put on a special performance for friends and family on Friday 18th August – the culmination of four week-long music projects at the state-of-the-art music studio and recording facilities at YouthPoint, Watford.

Over the summer YC Hertfordshire youth workers held the workshops which specialised in particular genres of music, such as Urban, Pop, Rock and Punk. The weeks were split into age groups – and the young people were given the opportunity to play and record music together, as well as being able to try their hand at different instruments.  Staff were on hand to introduce them to the technical side of music production and enabled them to record individual tracks that they had worked on.

The performance evening was a great success, a tribute to the hard work put in by all the young people during the summer.

‘It’s a really great studio, with really great stuff in it’, commented Kat, age 15, ‘I want to become a musician in the future’; while Daniel, age 13, added, ‘It was nice to have a chance to play music together, and I learnt how to do some technical skills’.
