29 July 2016
Young people from the Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere districts were invited to a jobs and careers fair on Wednesday 20 July 2016.
Youth Connexions worked in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, Circle Housing and Welwyn Hatfield Community Housing Trust to host and support the delivery of the fair at Breaks Manor Youth Centre in Hatfield.
Over 30 employers attended the event and over 400 jobs were available on the day. It attracted over 600 job seekers, many of whom applied for jobs using the Youth Connexions ICT suite at the venue.
Young people had the opportunity to talk with employers and many secured job interviews. One young person said “I have two interviews booked for this week”.
Young people could also sign up to computer courses, attend CV workshops and get impartial advice from Youth Connexions personal advisers as well as advisers from the National Careers Service.
Youth Connexions Employment & Training Advisers took the opportunity to talk to local employers about jobs, apprenticeships and work experience placements for young people.
One of the employers said: “Great event – had to leave early as all of our interview slots have been taken”.
Help and support for young people is also available via the Youth Connexions website.
