Youth Connexions was joined last week by Jamie and Clayton, two Year 11 students from Highfield School, Letchworth, for a work experience placement.

The beginning of October saw the launch of a new project at YouthZone – the newly revamped South Oxhey Youth Centre. Aimed at young people in care, young parents, carers and friends, the project is already proving to be a success.

National charity Youth Music has awarded £30,000 to Hertfordshire County Council Youth Connexions for a life-enhancing music project to take place in 2016.

September saw the last of over 80 young people complete a 12-week music based course which enhanced their appreciation of the arts and not just their musical abilities. The programme helped developed skills such as communication and team work.

Supported by Youth Connexions, young people from across the county came together on Saturday 16th October at County Hall for the launch of the Hertfordshire Young People’s Manifesto 2015/16, in the presence of the Executive Member for Children’s Services, County Councillor Richard Roberts.

Children & Young People Now, the respected national news magazine for professionals working with children, young people and families, has recognised the work of Youth Connexions with the Herts1125 WhoNotWhat (WnW) group, a young person led group for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and questioning (LGBT+) young people.
