Baldock Arena set for BFest BSafe
28/06/2010
B Fest B Safe at Baldock Arena July 10 2pm to 10pm
A music festival, football tournament and packed programme of activities will get Baldock buzzing on Saturday July 10.
Organised by Baldock Youth Council, B Fest B Safe is a follow-up to the success of last year’s first B Festival which attracted around 500 young people.
This year’s event should be a real crowd-puller - with local young bands, a talent competition, football tournament, henna tattooing, nail art, sumo suits and inflatables among the attractions at the Norton Road venue.
Exit Avenue from Hitchin are one of the local bands on the playlist
And this year there are extra events to highlight Baldock Youth Council’s safety campaign. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be staging a reconstruction of a road accident, cutting volunteers out of a car, linking it with a reaction timer so young people can learn the dangers of texting and distractions while driving.
The being safe theme includes drugs, drinking, driving, cycling, the internet, and sexual health - and stalls will include the ‘Body Stop’ bus, which offers information and advice to young people.
Baldock Youth Council is supported by Youth Connexions, and the festival is aimed at 13 to 19 year olds in North Hertfordshire.
Richard Thake, Executive Member for Education and Skills, said: "Baldock Youth Council has been going for less than two years but its young members have already organised one highly successful festival and are pulling out all the stops for this year’s event. B Fest B Safe promises to be a great day for young people in the Baldock area.”
Tickets cost £5 in advance and if bought in advance, entitle the holder to a free turn on each of the three inflatables. Purchase online at www.wegottickets.com. £7 on the door
Baldock rural transport is available for young people from the surrounding villages who would like to attend the festival. For more information call Youth Connexions Hertfordshire on 01438 843340.
