Channelmogo

Channelmogo - the youth portal for Hertfordshire

September 2008 saw the launch of an innovative web site designed for, and by, young people. It aims to be informative, highly interactive and allow them to get involved in all sorts of ways.

Developed by the Hertfordshire Children's Trust Partnership, Channelmogo is a website for Hertfordshire's young people aged between 11 and 19 (extended to age 25 for young people with a disability or learning difficulty).

The site offers issue-based information linked to local services. It also has many interactive elements such as videos, music downloads, reviews,  competitions and the opportunity to have a say via discussion boards and web chat. It has a sister site called mogozout which features events and projects for young people, all searchable on various criteria and with an interactive mapping function.

Young people were involved  - and continue to be involved - in influencing the content and design of the two websites. Partner agencies contribute to developing the site through writing the issue-based content. Channelmogo offers young people a real opportunity to access information and get involved in the way they want. It is the first truly interactive site of its kind in Hertfordshire.

Channelmogo will host a number of surveys and competitions to attract young people's interest. This will also enable children and young people's services from across the county to engage with their target group and gain real-time feedback from service users. There are a number of sample session plans for professionals to use channelmogo in working with young people - click here.
