Body Stop Bus
'The Body Stop' Mobile is a tool for raising awareness among young people around health matters. It is equipped with games and tools to engage young people in health information. It has two computers with CD-ROMS, a colour printer, a DVD player with a big screen at the back, a stereo (with inside and outside speakers) and storage holding a variety of games, fun health tools, DVDs CD-ROMs and leaflets.
There is a folder full of AQA units divided into the areas under the Health outcome from every Child Matters. These include: 'physical health',' mental and emotional health', 'sexual health', 'healthy lifestyles' and 'choosing not to take illegal drugs'.
Costs for Youth Connexions staff making bookings:
To book the bus with a driver will cost £60 (the driver will not be responsible for delivering the session). Trained workers can take the bus out themselves. To book the bus with a driver from your own team will cost £15. Training can be arranged for staff at anytime who have a category C1 on their licence.
Specialist workers may be able to run sessions as well as drive the Body Stop for you. These include the Teenage Pregnancy workers and the Drug and Alcohol worker. To book the bus with the specialist worker will cost £15; you will need to check with the workers to see if they are available.
