Teenage Pregnancy Publications
The Hertfordshire Teenage Pregnancy Action Plan sets out a programme of work to enable us to achieve a reduction in under 18 teenage conception rate and better outcomes for teenage parents. The latest Action Plan 2008/11, has been revised to reflect local actions in the strategy against the five outcomes in the Every Child Matters Outcomes Framework.

This publication has been written for midwives, doctors, maternity support workers and receptionists who are involved in the care of pregnant teenagers and young fathers. It is particularly aimed at practitioners working in mainstream services or areas where the prevalence of teenage pregnancy is relatively low and where there are no dedicated services for pregnant teenagers. Producing it was a commitment in Teenage Parents Next Steps (2007) and the guide and offers practical guidance on working with pregnant teenagers and young fathers. A revised edition of this guide (originally produced in 2004) has been published by DCSF, Department of Health and the Royal College of Midwives.
