Information, advice and guidance from YC Hertfordshire for over-18s

YC Herfordshire has vast experience of providing information, advice and guidance to 13-19 year olds and works with young adults beyond this age if they are in/leaving care or have disabilities and/or learning disabilities/difficulties.

Care leavers

For young adults leaving care, support and guidance is available until their 21st birthday. Please see the Children looked after and care leavers area for full details.


Young adults with disabilities and/or learning disabilities/difficulties

YC Hertfordshire personal advisers offer young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) impartial information, advice and guidance on their post-16 options such as further education, training, employment and independent living up to their 25th birthday. National Careers Service

For other over-18s the National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance to help you make decisions on learning, training and work opportunities. The service offers confidential and impartial advice. This is supported by qualified careers advisers.

The National Careers Service website aims to:

  •     help you with careers decisions and planning
  •     support you in reviewing your skills and abilities and develop new goals
  •     motivate you to implement your plan of action
  •     enable you to make the best use of high quality career related tools.
